The Town of Riga's fall recreation schedule lists a "NEW" Community Fitness Program with Churchville-Chili Continuing Education. It covers walking, swimming and the fitness room from September 2026 through June 2027 for $20 a year for Riga residents. The school district's Fall 2026 Continuing Education catalog lists the same $20. There it's the standard orientation fee for the district's Community Fitness Membership, which is open to "any Churchville-Chili adult resident." The catalog adds that "you do not need to have children attending school to participate; simply live in the community."
So the town hasn't negotiated a discount. It's pointing residents to a district membership that any adult living in the Churchville-Chili district can join. The catalog calls the membership itself new and "all-encompassing" because it bundles walking, the fitness room and lap swim into one pass. The rules that matter most for using it come from the school calendar.
One pass, three rooms, and a fee that runs out on June 30
The $20 pays for an orientation. Once you finish it, you're a member and get a fitness pass to wear on every visit. The pass is valid until June 30, 2027.
The expiration date sets the value. Join in October and $20 covers about nine months of school-year access. Half-year memberships that start in January are prorated to $10. For comparison, this fall's Water Walking class in the same pool costs $65 for eight sessions. The membership is for high school graduates and older. The district's Golden Saints discount doesn't apply to the orientation fee.
The hours fit around the school day
Every hour below falls outside the time students use the building. Here's the Fall 2026 schedule from the district catalog:
| Area | Where you enter | Days and hours |
|---|---|---|
| Lap swim | Senior High School, Entrance 5 | Mon and Wed 7:30 to 9:00 PM; Tue and Thu 6:00 to 7:00 AM; Sat 6:00 to 8:00 AM |
| Fitness room | High school, Entrance 6, follow the fitness room signs | Mon and Wed 7:30 to 9:00 PM; Sat 7:00 to 10:00 AM |
| Hallway walking | High school hallways | Mon through Thu 4:00 to 8:00 PM, school year only |
Lap swim totals seven hours a week over five days, with no Friday or Sunday sessions. The fitness room is open six hours a week, half of them on Saturday morning. Hallway walking has the most time at sixteen hours a week, and the catalog says "there is no hall walking when school is not in session."
Monday and Wednesday evenings are the only times all three areas are open at once. From 7:30 to 8:00 PM, a member could walk the halls, then lift or swim. Saturday morning pairs an early swim with fitness room hours that run until 10:00. The Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 AM swims are the only weekday option before work.
At both the pool and the fitness room, you sign in with your community fitness membership number.
Getting a pass this fall
Orientations happen once a week, on Wednesdays. The district's registration system lists these Fall 2026 orientations at CC High School, 7:00 to 7:30 PM, for $20 each:
- Wednesday, October 7
- Wednesday, October 14
- Wednesday, October 21
- Wednesday, October 28
- Wednesday, November 4
- Wednesday, November 18
To join:
- Register for an orientation through Churchville-Chili Continuing Education. The district accepts online registration with a credit card, or a completed form by mail or in person.
- Meet your orientation leader at Entrance 5 of the high school.
- Pick up your fitness pass, then use your membership number to sign in at each visit.
Each person needs their own orientation. One caution about the Town of Riga's wording: the town offers the program to "Riga residents," while the district limits the membership to Churchville-Chili residents. Neither source explains how a Riga address outside the district boundary is handled. If that might apply to you, email Riga Recreation at [email protected] or call 585-293-0979 x130 before you register.
When the building is closed, the pass is too
The district's school year doesn't stop at the classroom door. The Community Fitness calendar shows Monday, October 12, as "CLOSED - No Community Fitness Programs." It also shows Wednesday lap swim on October 21 as canceled. That's the same evening as one of the listed orientations.
Longer breaks are coming. The district's 2026-27 calendar lists Thanksgiving Recess from November 25 to 27 and Holiday Recess from December 23 to 31. Hallway walking stops when school isn't in session, so expect the halls to be closed those weeks. The pool and fitness room may also change, and the fitness calendar is the place to check before you head out on a holiday-week evening.
Fridays and Wednesdays belong to other programs
Two other pool programs run on nights the membership doesn't cover, and neither one is part of the $20 pass.
Family Open Swim is the district's Friday-evening option for Churchville-Chili residents "when the pool is available," with preregistration required for each family member. The catalog doesn't list a start time or fee. The rules it does list are practical: parents must swim with their children, everyone signs in at Door 5, you arrive already in your swimsuit, you bring your own lock for the lockers, everyone showers before getting in the pool, and no street shoes are allowed on the deck.
Water Walking with instructor Kim Dodson runs on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 PM starting September 23, with no class on November 11. It's for adults 21 and older, uses a buoyancy belt, and costs $65, or $48.75 at the Golden Saints rate. The catalog lists November 18 as the last class, but the district's online registration listing runs the session through December 2 and shows registration as ended. Golden Saints members can call the Continuing Education Office at 585-293-4429 to activate their membership. Because the class ends at 7:30, a member could stay for Wednesday lap swim, which starts at that time.
Riga's own fall lineup moves indoors on November 1
The town is promoting the district pass while its own outdoor season ends. Riga Recreation's schedule says the pickleball, volleyball and basketball courts close for the season on November 1. After that, most of the town's programs move to the Multipurpose Room or onto other schedules:
- Rec Running Club, new this fall, meets Saturdays in October at 9:00 AM in the Riga Town Hall parking lot by the electronic sign.
- Functional Movement for all ages with performance specialist Paul Dick is Monday, October 19, at 5:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room, preregistration only.
- Chair Yoga and Gentle Yoga with Deb and Jodi continue in the Multipurpose Room through the fall, including Friday 9:30 AM Chair Yoga sessions on October 9, 16, 23 and 30.
- AARP Safe Driver Course runs Wednesday, November 11, and Friday, November 13, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The town lists a 10% insurance reduction for three years, preregistration only.
- 2nd Annual Turkey Bowl & Family Turkey Trot is Wednesday, November 25, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Churchville-Chili Stadium Field.
Riga Recreation posts updates at townofriga.com/recreation. From November into winter, the high school's lap lanes, fitness room and hallways are the town-promoted options with set weekly hours, and they're open on school-year evenings and early mornings.
